On August 23, I had the privilege of speaking about SF's Blue Ribbon Panel on police reform at Tipping Point Community. TPC is an amazing group of people focused on funding for social innovation and change. Currently, their laser focus is trained on poverty.
What does policing have to do with poverty? Unfortunately, quite a lot. The poor are disproportionately involved in the justice system, and more likely to become embroiled and have a tough time getting out. Any fight against poverty has to take account of those facts.
Thank you Tipping Point Community for a thoughtful and inspiring hour!
If you'd like me to speak to your company or group about policing reform, Persyn Law & Policy's work on the SF Blue Ribbon Panel, the impact of trauma history on policing, or related topics, just let me know.
